A respin is an additional reel action under a game’s feature rules. To understand it, identify what starts the action, what changes and what determines whether the sequence continues.
Three questions to answer
- Trigger: which condition activates the extra action?
- Change: which reels or symbols change, and which remain?
- Continuation: what allows another step, and what ends the sequence?
These questions organize the rule. They do not supply missing conditions for a specific game.
Compare the process, not the label
Compare a respin with symbol replacement in a cascade. The animation may look active in both cases, but the actions must be read from their respective rules.

Read the Starburst profile for a specific example, then use the mechanics comparison to record the process in your own words.
